In this 2006 dark comedy we follow the misadventures of the Hoover family as they road trip to a beauty pageant and attempt to keep their dysfunctional family from falling onto the floor. It presents a developed story in an entertaining manner and left me satisfied.
I most enjoyed the commentary on various issues common to all of us, such as the quest for a good life, a healthy relationship to family, true beauty, and more. Each of these issues has or will confront all of us at some point, and this movie did a great job bringing them to the surface, making jokes, and presenting some good thoughts to consider.
In summation, a quality movie with a rare balance between laughs and thoughts. Certainly worth your time.
