Paris 1919

Margaret MacMillan’s excellent tome details the world altering events of the Paris Peace Conference that concluded the Great War and set the stage for a future we’re still experiencing. Engaging, intelligent, and exhaustive, this book serves up an excellent description of both famous and lesser known agreements and occurrences that left a lasting legacy on world affairs.

I most enjoyed the little details about obscure issues, leaders, and movements. It’s always interesting to learn about the less heralded happenings of history. MacMillan also does a good job addressing the big stuff too, giving a balanced and researched perspective on the decisions made.

Well written and well designed, I highly recommend this book to both the history buff and casually interested.
